Academics
The nurturing of a child's academic curiosity and
development must be at the center of what any school seeks to achieve .A child
centered learning programmes aim at providing the curriculum based on national
and international standards. Our school is following C.B.S.E syllabus and the
curriculum has been evolved to achieve a balaaance between the emphasis
laid on academics and the development of personality that has come to mean so
much in today's competitive and challenging world
Curriculum
The curriculum is a fusion of sports. dramatics, dance, music, computers, art
and craft and academics, all developed to create a blend of activity based learning
and development of body and mind.
Teaching Methodology
Teaching methods in the classroom are interactive and aim at generating interest
and developing a range of learning skills.
Teachers find a variety of approaches that stimulate interest and motivation
among the students. Group Discussions and projects, educational trips and excursions
information technology, seminars, cultural and sports events form an integral part of the
education imparted in the school.
The simple and effective teaching methods are a testimony at providing a complete
and holistic approach in education, which aims at developing the children into
academically sound and socially well integrated individuals.
Besides developing their creativity and communication skills, their evaluation is simple
and effective. The assessment is on the basis of the weekly tests and day to day
performance ensures consistent quality learning where students are confident
in averring themselves.
The curriculum and teaching are practical and aim at developing communicative
competence, expressing ideas and freedom of thought, tolerance and respect for
individuals. Above all, we seek to develop our children as socially and morally upright
individuals.
Teaching faculty
The school has a team of hard-working and dedicated staff members.
Reinforced with high standards in education and moral values, the teachers are
specially trained to update their knowledge and uphold the DPS society's spirit,
ethos, culture and philosophy. They are initiated into the pivotal role played
by the teachers in the DPS system. For being a DPS teacher, the staff member has to be effective
in communication skills and interactive, interesting and informative in imparting education.
They undergo extensive trainings which are centrally organized by the Education
Management Centre of the DPS Society at various Delhi Public School in New Delhi.
Programmes
Pre-Primary
Our blooming tiny tots, participate in various competitions
and talent search rounds organized for them. These opportunities are working
wonders by building their confidence and giving them the exposure to address
an audience. We believe in involving these little hands in lots of activities
to bring about positive growth and develop their personalities.
For children of Pre Primary section there is a multipurpose activity room specific
to their developmental needs. Learning is fun based and activity oriented. As
a result learning is a joyfull experience for these little kids. They are not
burdened with over emphasis on written work, but are taught at the pace which
is appropriate for their age. The activities are planned is such a manner that
the hand-eye coordination as well as gross and fine motor skills of the children
are developed.
A lot of emphasis is also laid on listening skills of the little ones as they tend
to get distracted within a short span of time. The Pre-Primary wing of the school
comprises of classes Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Prep. It caters to the needs and
demands of early childhood learning. Bearing in mind that the foundation of a
child's personality is laid and two thirds of his intellect formed at this age,
the school has created an environment and a system of teaching which is entirely
child friendly.
Pre-Nursery
In Pre-Nursery play is an invaluable way to stimulate all areas of development
for young children. Play together with informal, ongoing instruction, is used
as a vehicle for learning. Children are provided with a variety of stimulating
activities to develop easy concepts and skills of literacy. They constantly learn
basic skills through games, music, artwork, stories, poetry, films and computers.
Nursery
Children learn mainly through play and interactive activities
to further language & vocabulary development (using storytelling, rhyming,
games and enacting stories), improve social skills (having the children to work
together to role play, structured and free play) and introduce scientific and
mathematical concepts (showing the children how to balance and count blocks when
building a bridge or how to Mix colours, when painting). Thus, a less structured
approach, including small group lessons, one on one instruction and learning
through creative activities such as art, dance and music is adopted.
Prep
A thematically based curriculum is intended to develop oral language, literacy,
listening skills, numeric, creative expression, and positive self-esteem. Formal
learning of the three R's takes a prominent place in the Prep curriculum which
includes recognition, reading and writing of Hindi and English alphabets and
CVC words along with basic arithmetical concepts. Story telling and retelling
programme, Rhyme with reason, a phonemic awareness programme, emergent writing, shared
book experience and role play are important components of the programme.

and study material which is suitably graded at this stage. Students learn

the needs of the youngest learners. From class IV onwards the school

Parent-Teacher Interface-communication to build bridge
Learning is a continuous process which doesn’t start or end with
school timings. D.P.S. Jalandhar is committed to give the children
an environment conducive to learning and achieving their goals.
However it is not possible to nurture these young minds without the
help and commitment of the parents. To fulfil this joyous and
enriching mission we have always looked forward and achieved the
support of the parents. Regular Parent Teachers Meetings are held to
facilitate both the teachers and the parents to work together on a
common platform. Along with these Parent-Teachers Meetings, we
organize Interface with the parents of all classes, where in the
parents are at liberty to put across to the Principal, Mr. Banerjee,
any query or any difficulty they are facing regarding their child. |
